What this site is

A worksheet of general information about moving money from the Thrift Savings Plan into a self-directed precious-metals IRA: TSP and IRS rules with links to where we found them, and published facts about the companies that offer these accounts, each with the date we checked it.

What this site is not

• Not advice. Nothing here is investment, tax, legal or financial advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any metal or account. For advice on your situation, speak to a licensed professional.
• Not the TSP. We are not affiliated with the Thrift Savings Plan, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) or any federal agency. Only the TSP can act on your account.
• Not a dealer or custodian. We don't sell metal, hold accounts or handle money. Any purchase or account is between you and the company you choose.
• No promises about results. Metals can lose value, and past prices say nothing certain about future ones.

Accuracy

We check facts against primary sources and date every check, but the TSP, the IRS and companies change their rules and fees, and we can make mistakes. Confirm every figure with the TSP or the company, in writing, before you act. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page; our editorial policy explains how we correct it.

Affiliate relationships

Links to other sites

We link to tsp.gov, irs.gov, regulators, companies and other sources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, products or privacy practices.
