TSP to Gold IRA

Affiliate disclosure

Not affiliated with the Thrift Savings Plan, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), or any federal agency.

Published · Updated

TSP to Gold IRA is free to read because two of the companies we write about pay us. Here is exactly who, when, and what that does and doesn't change.

Who pays us

Our commercial relationships with companies named on this site
CompanyPays us?When
GoldcoYesWhen a reader we refer requests information and Goldco counts it as a qualified lead, and when a referred reader buys
Augusta Precious MetalsYesWhen a reader we refer becomes a qualified lead under Augusta's definition
Birch Gold GroupNoNo relationship. Birch has a public affiliate program; we haven't joined it.
American Hartford GoldNoNo relationship
Noble Gold InvestmentsNoNo relationship. Noble has a public affiliate program; we haven't joined it.

In plain terms: we're paid when you ask Goldco or Augusta for information through our buttons, and Goldco also pays when you buy. We don't publish the amounts. We update this table whenever a relationship starts or ends.

We are not paid by the Thrift Savings Plan or any federal agency, and we're not affiliated with them.

How our links work

Every Goldco and Augusta button on this site points to an address on our own domain that starts with /go/, for example /go/goldco?p=home&pl=hero. When you follow it, our server sends you on to the company's page and adds labels that tell the company:

  • that you came from this site;
  • which page you were on and where on the page the button was;
  • how you reached our site (a search engine, another site, or directly), from a first-party cookie described in our privacy policy.

The labels contain no name, email, phone number or other personal details. You pay nothing extra: metal prices and account fees are the same whether you use our button or go to the company directly. The buttons are marked as sponsored links for search engines.

Once you're on the company's site, anything you type into its form goes to that company under its own privacy policy. A Goldco representative usually calls after a kit request; we say so next to every Goldco button.

How it affects what you see

It does affect it, and we'd rather say so. Goldco and Augusta are the only companies with buttons, and they are listed first and second partly because they pay us. Our methodology explains the facts behind that order, and where Augusta's higher minimum makes it a poor fit.

What payment doesn't change:

  • The rules. TSP and IRS rules are reported as tsp.gov and irs.gov state them, including the ones that argue for leaving money in the TSP.
  • The facts. Fees, minimums and terms come from the same verified record for every company, paid or not.
  • The pages. Companies don't see or approve our pages before they're published, and can't pay to remove an accurate fact.

What we don't accept

  • Payment for positive coverage or a better position
  • Free metal, gifts or trips from companies we cover
  • Requests to remove accurate information

Questions

The FTC's endorsement guides expect a payment like this to be disclosed clearly, which is why a one-line disclosure sits under the first button on every page that has one, and the footer links here. If you have a question about a relationship, ask us through the contact page.
