TSP to Gold IRA

Editorial policy

Not affiliated with the Thrift Savings Plan, the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB), or any federal agency.

Published · Updated

Retirement money is at stake on every page of this site, so these are the rules we hold ourselves to when we research, write, update and correct.

Who writes and edits

Pages are researched and written for Lead Partner and reviewed by Jan Wirum, who is responsible for the accuracy of every page. We don't publish under made-up names or invented credentials, and we don't use stock or generated photos of people.

Sources

  • TSP rules come from tsp.gov: its web pages and the booklets and fact sheets it publishes. IRS rules come from irs.gov.
  • Company fees, minimums, kits and promotions come from one verified company record, field by field, each with a source link, a check date and a status. If the record doesn't have a fact, the page says so instead of estimating.
  • We don't treat other review or affiliate sites as a source of fact.
  • Where a company's own pages disagree with each other, we say so.
  • Every page lists its sources and the date its facts were checked.

Honesty about risk

We never forecast metal prices or fund returns, never describe metal as risk-free, and never suggest it can't lose value. Where a gold IRA costs more or carries a tax trap that the TSP doesn't, we say so on the page that recommends a company, not on a page you'll never read.

No fake reviews, testimonials or ratings

We don't publish customer testimonials, composite "readers", case studies or star ratings, and our pages carry no rating markup for search engines.

Independence and money

Goldco and Augusta Precious Metals pay us, as set out in our affiliate disclosure. Companies don't review, edit or approve our pages, and they can't pay to remove or soften a fact.

Language

We write for readers. No scare stories about the economy, no politics, no countdowns and no urgency we don't believe in. Where a decision depends on your own tax position, we say "talk to a tax professional" rather than pretend to give advice.

Updates and corrections

We recheck TSP and IRS rules when tsp.gov or the IRS changes them, and company facts at least every 90 days. Each page shows the date its facts were last checked; we never backdate it. If we get something wrong, we fix it and note significant corrections on the page. Send corrections through the contact page, with a source if you have one.

Not advice

Everything on this site is general information, not personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
